Nebraska's Water

Nebraska is an extremely unique state.  Annual precipitation varies more from east to west across the state than from Nebraska to either coast.  Nebraska is blessed with an abundant array of water assets, including the largest part of the Ogallala aquifer, one of the biggest fresh water storage reservoirs in the world, and more stream miles than any state in the US.  For more than a century, Nebraska has been a world leader in water technology from the development, manufacturing and implementation of wind mills to advanced center pivot technologies.  Home to the four major center pivot manufacturers in the world as well as the UNL “Water for Food” institute, Nebraska is ideally positioned to provide a major water leadership role nationally and globally.
